My name is Zomuu Dundaa. I was born in 1942.I live with my son in Bayankhongor province.
I had great chance to participate CFGB project activities since 2005 till end of this project. Before involvement of the project our family has lack of cash except my pension. At that time I was living with my son’s family consisting 6 person. My two brothers has moved from soums center to find better life and more cash. When they got information regarding gold mining areas they have to visit there and to find gold. That is their main income. After several years my son died suddenly, who has just 20 years. The accident was bad protection of gold mining canal due to break down surface soil. Since that black day I got very high stress same as dark sky.
One day I have met someone who told me about ADRA Mongolia. So, i involved in ADRA projects. When I was registered,I have no idea about planting vegetables. But i set goal to learn how to plant vegetable because it can be my only way to survive and improve my life.
The first year I planted in my own yard but didn’t get much harvest as I expected. The problem was far from water source.
So, next year I have planted in Bor balgas which has great agriculture potential areas. That year I got really much harvest. My family was so happy because we were able to earn money by sellin them. After several years I have gained proper knowledge and experience on garden management including soil preparation.
In addition, I extended my vegetable growing plot and harvested high volume of vegetables. Today, many people will know me who is growing vegetables in Bor balgas. That is my award from the people and project.
Moreover, we also learned how to preserve vegetables and store it.
In 2010 our family members harvested total 547.3 kg of different type of vegetables. Currently, we have stored 240 kg of potato seed in our root cellar.
Local government has awarded to me as a best gardener, and other awards in 2010.
All of it happened because of not only me, but also project staff support and ADRA.
In the future I really want to plant more vegetables and share my knowledge with other poor people.
